OECD work on privacy

Over several decades the OECD has given particular importance to the promotion of respect for privacy as a fundamental value and a condition for the free flow of personal data across borders. The basis of OECD’s work on privacy are the Guidelines on the Protection of Privacy and Transborder Flows of Personal Data, which have been revised in July 2013. These new Guidelines are the first update of the original 1980 version, which has been the first internationally agreed  set of privacy principles.
